On-site seated massage (OSSM) is a highly effective form of massage based on traditional Japanese techniques. During the On-Site sequence, or Kata, the client is firstly relaxed and then re-energised by working on pressure points on the back, head, shoulders, arms and hands. A typical session will take around 15 to 20 minutes and usually utilises an ergonomically designed chair.

Topics in the curriculum include:

  • History and Practice of Seated Massage
  • Contraindications & Safety
  • The On-Site Sequence (Kata)
  • Setting the strategy & goals
  • Designing your promotional material
  • Practical techniques Clinic
  • Anatomy Review
  • The consultation process
  • Selling On-Site to businesses
  • Marketing your therapy
  • Practice Management

Practical Skill Development

Between the first and last weekend of the course students complete 50 case studies each involving a client consultation and one 20 minute On-Site sequence.

Additionally each student prepares

  • a summary business plan defining how to grow his/her practice
  • sample promotional literature selling On-Site.

These practical elements ensure that the student is prepared to effectively promote, sell and perform their On-Site skills to the maximum on completion of the course.

What the students say....

"As a former student with the Western School on the On-Site Seated Acupressure Massage Diploma course, I have only high regard for John and his team. The course covered all that you need in order to practise Seated Acupressure Massage, and prepares you not only for the massage sequence, but also for the business world ahead. This is an extremely important issue in today’s competitive world, yet one that is seldom addressed in therapy courses. John delivered the Diploma course in his usual style, making it both fun and interesting. It is a course that I would highly recommend as a practical addition to other holistic skills, and delivered to an excellent level by the Western School gives you the best chance to achieve success once you have qualified."
